We all have places around our homes that we forget to clean. This list of forgotten places might even be a mile long, but no matter what those things are that we forget to clean, Maid to Shine is here to help make that cleaning routine easier to handle!
One place that is easily overlooked in the cleaning routine is beneath the bed. No matter what sort of flooring is in the bedrooms, whether carpet or wood floors, it’s an important item to clean regularly. Many different types of dust, fuzz, cobwebs, pet hair, or other sorts of debris can be accidentally swept underneath and forgotten about. Because of this, and the fact that we tend to forget to clean underneath the beds, it’s important to remember cleaning this place.
Before gathering the tools to clean, think about the flooring in each of the bed rooms. This will determine how you clean beneath the beds. If the flooring in the bedrooms are carpet, you’ll want to use a vacuum. To do this effectively, you’ll probably need to move the bed completely, vacuum, and then replace the bed. Because of the effort that would go into this, vacuuming beneath the beds in your home wouldn’t need to be done more than twice a year. But before moving the beds, ask a friend or family member to help you move the bed back and forth.
However, if your flooring is wood, then it will be much easier to clean, and it can even be done on a weekly basis! The only tool you’ll need to tackle this chore is a long duster (a lambswool for example), and it would be helpful if it had a long handle or an extension pole of some sort.
Before you begin dusting the bed underneath, clear out whatever has been stored beneath the bed. It’s important to have an open area to clean without working around objects that might hide or trap dust bunnies. Once you’ve moved anything sitting under the beds, take your duster (extended as long as needed to reach the other side) begin dusting.
Start by placing the duster at the edge furthest away from you. Keeping the duster flat against the floor, pull the duster from one side of the bed to the other. Knock the dust and other particles out from underneath the bed. Then, dust the section immediately below the bit of floor that was just dusted. Continue drawing the duster across the floor firmly, pulling out the dust until you’ve finished the entire space. Quickly sweep up everything that was pulled out from under the bed, and then replace everything previously stored under the bed.
Cleaning underneath the bed is as simple as that!Unfortunately, forgetting to dust underneath the beds is just one example of things we neglect around the home. There are many others! Fortunately, there are easy remedies for cleaning them. Being mindful of these areas is simply the first step.
