Autumn and winter are on their way, and with their coming we might be looking for projects to keep us inside where it’s warm and cosy. If you’re looking for a seasonal project indoors this autumn (or winter), why not do a bit of seasonal cleaning? It can be a great chore to keep one busy through those grey days with brisk temperatures. And seasonal cleaning projects are even a great idea for the kids to help with, too.
Sprucing up all of the picture frames that you have hanging around the house is a really great seasonal project. Like everything else that we keep in our homes, picture frames do collect dust. About once a year they could stand to have a thorough dusting. Cleaning the picture frames is just enough of a project to keep one busy, but it’s not overwhelming either and won’t take too long. It’s the perfect chore for a blustery day. How would you begin and how many tools would you need?
Gathering the Supplies for the Job
It’s possible that your picture frames have been collecting dust for multiple years without any sort of cleaning or wipe down. There’s only so much that dusting can do. It gets up the loose dust, but it can’t do anything for the dust that has settled onto the frame. Chances are, your frames will need to be hand wiped with a cleaning solution and a rag. These tools are all you’ll need to clean your picture frames:
· cleaning solution
· clean rags
· a clean microfibre cloth
If possible, use a cleaning solution that is all natural and safe for everyone in the home, and it’s a good idea to use a cleaner that is safe for picture frames! Gather all of your frames together from around the house, and gently spritz the first frame with your cleaning solution. Then gently wipe the outer edge of the frame. Begin at the far left, lower edge. Wipe up, then wipe across, and then down again. Then gently work up any layer of dust on the glass of the frame.
After you’ve gotten up the dust, use the microfibre to polish the glass and make it shine. Be sure not to leave any streaks on the glass. Now your picture frames are ready to go back up on the walls!
These professional cleaning tips can make your home go from looking clean to absolutely glowing! And all it took was a little bit of extra TLC for your home (and picture frames) to look as though a professional cleaned them.
