What’s the best way to keep on top of Centennial house cleaning? Create a schedule of chores. You may not be able to fit it all in but you can schedule the most important cleaning chores.
Day 1: Clean the Bathrooms
Start from the top and work your way down – wipe the mirrors, clean out the sink, then scrub the tub and toilet. Don’t worry about the floors because you’ll get those when you’re washing all the floors in the house.
Day 2: Clean Kitchen Sink and Wipe Down Refrigerator
Take a quick peek in the fridge and get rid of any expired foods or mysterious leftovers. Then wipe up any smudges. The sink will benefit from a heavy duty cleaner to sanitize it once each week.
Day 3: Vacuum
On weeks where you have a little extra time, use the extension to vacuum edges and corners. On a busy day, just make a quick trip through the areas with the highest traffic.
Day 4: Wash Floors
Make your life simple by washing all your floors on the same day so you don’t have to go through the setup process more than once each week.
Day 5: Dust Surfaces and Clean Glass
Use a microfiber cloth on bookshelves, dressers, and other surfaces that collect dust. Every now and again, take a stool and dust the tops of the fan blades but don’t stress it on a weekly basis.
If you’re pressed for time, don’t worry about spraying and washing an entire glass door – just get the obvious smudges. The great thing about a schedule is you know you’ll get to the chore again in a week.
Day 6: Wash Sheets and/or Towels
Laundry is probably a daily chore in most households. Make sure you schedule a day for doing the less common loads. Wash one set of sheets each week and make sure you schedule in a load of towels. Have your family strip their beds when they get up and deliver the sheets to the laundry room to cut the amount of labor involved.
Be realistic with yourself about what you can do and what you really need to do. Do you need to wash everyone’s sheets once each week? Probably not. Cleaning the bathroom on a weekly basis, on the other hand, will make a big difference in the feel of your home.
